I’ll be honest, I love reality TV.

Actually it’s one of my guilty pleasure past times. Even before “Basketball Wives” I had my favorites, and I watched them faithfully. There is something appealing about seeing people deal with real life drama as you’re watching. Now, as executive producer of “Basketball Wives,” I know that’s not exactly how it happens, but it’s still fun to watch.

What isn’t so fun to watch, however, is this new generation of reality TV. It seems to be more about the drama and less about the storyline. That concerns me, especially now that I’m producing a reality show.

I have gotten both good and bad responses from viewers about “Basketball Wives,” and I certainly understand the opinion that the shows portrayal of black women is beginning to look somewhat negative.

As you see on the show, I’m not a big supporter of the bickering, drink throwing and fighting, but when you put a group of strong, independent and vocal women who are going through or just came out of a bad relationship together, there’s bound to be a little drama.

Let’s face it, we all know women like the ones on “Basketball Wives” and countless other reality shows: Women who are vocal if you cross them.

The problem for me is when black women are portrayed as only being that way and labeled different than their non-black counterparts for the same type of behavior. That’s when it becomes negative and damaging to our image.

I’m not saying we have to create shows that only paint a pretty picture about who we are, but there should be a balance and most of all some integrity to the shows we create.

I do believe some of the shows featuring African-American women have positive story lines and are not meant to tear black women down. Shows like [BET's] “Tiny & Toya” and “Monica: Still Standing,” [TVOne's] “LisaRaye: The Real McCoy,” [VH1's] “What Chili Wants” and [WE tv's] “The Braxtons.”

They all have the same core storyline — single, exes of high profile men, trying to raise their children and get their lives back on track. I believe that is positive and when handled properly can be very uplifting and empowering for women going through the same issues, no matter their race.

That’s why I wanted to do “Basketball Wives.” I wanted to show what life is really like when you are with a professional athlete — and that sometimes all that glitters isn’t gold.

The murderer mother of murdered toddler Caylee Anthony, was found innocent on first degree murder charges after 3 years of wide spread accusations that she had something to do with it.  Earlier this week a jury found Casey NOT GUILTY and boy did it send shockwaves across the country!

The case which has been one of the most publicized murder trials since the OJ Simpson trial.  In the end of OJ’s trial was also found not guilty, however race played a major role in the aftermath that ensued.  Well that issue doesn’t exist here.  Casey’s verdict has even made white people mad!  Check out the celebrity tweets from celebrities who lost it once the verdict was read:

It seems like everyone was voicing their frustrations with the legal system and more importantly at the thought that this woman would actually have the chance to reproduce again!  One thing for sure is that this young girl Caylee, the angel who is at the center of all this pain is gone forever.  Rest peacefully Caylee!

In a recent letter to fans, Bow wrote what appears to be a heartfelt message about how he’s felt keeping this secret from the public:

“Let me start off by saying i love my fans. With out yall i wudda been left the game. For the past 3 years i been batteling life. Even thought about taking my own. I felt like as a kid i did everything and saw everything too fast which spoiled my adult years. I felt as if i had no purpose to live(Thinking selfishly) until god gave me the illest gift of my life. No lambo, no blk card nuffn ammounts to my lil girl. I waited so long to tell yall the truth because i was nervous on how yall would look at me. Yall know everyone makes a big deal out of everything i do. I wanted to be 1st n let yall know the real. My lil girl is getting BIG fast. i love every minute of it. She inspires me to go harder.Even made me treat my mother better, its like it made me into a man over night. Never been a fan of posting pix of my daughter. Reason is because i want my boo boo to have everything i didnt. Want her to be able to cheerlead with her lil friends with out some asshole sticking his camera all in my lil girl face. I know how fame is. I missed out on so much that i now know how important it is to cherish and have those things in your life. Yes! I change diapers. Aint as bad as i thought hahaha. I want her to live with me so bad. Jus us 2. Thats my dream man but fellas yall know how it go. Baby gotta stay with they momma and all dat bull. I hate that! So i have to fly 5 hrs away to see her. Rumors have it the mother of this baby girl is none other than self proclaimed model but definitely video vixen runner up potential Miss Joie.  It’s unclear what Bow and Joie’s relationship is, but from what Shad is sharing, it doesn’t seem like he’s still hitting that.

In a recent cover shoot for Italian Vanity Fair, Lohan shared of her experience in jail, and says she plans to spend the next year on set. “Unless you’re a killer, I don’t see a reason to stay there,” she said of her experience in jail. “I never hurt anyone but myself.”

While we don’t know if she’ll stay out of the slammer, we do know that she looks absolutely AMAZING in this shoot.  Keep rocking LL, and we aint’ talking Cocaine!

Oscar Winner and singer Jamie Foxx has been chosen to star in the new Quentin Tarinton project, ‘Django Unchained’.  Foxx who has played everything from a dragqueen named Wanda to impersonating the legendary Ray Charles which led to his Oscar win will now shackle up to play a freed slave.

“I think, just to be able to work with Quentin Tarantino and Samuel Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, and to be able to tell a story that needs to be told…it’s just amazing,” Jamie said.

Foxx who has been in the news over the past year for being involved in a fight with his former manager Breon Prescott, and most recently rumored to have left long time managers and friends Jamie and Marcus King is focusing on his career and not that drama.  Insiders say that despite his long time relationship with the Kings who have undoubtedly assisted in building the mega brand, Jamie has moved on up and got him a white MANager.

We love Jamie and hope he continues to soar. Can you picture Jamie winning the Oscar for playing a slave? And better yet, they allowing Bill O’Reilly to give it to him.  Now THAT would be the END!

According to ABC NEWS this is what happened…

Story Mac McClelland, a civil rights reporter who has seen the impact of sexual violence around the globe, couldn’t shake the image of Sybille, a woman who said she had been raped at gunpoint and mutilated in the aftermath of Haiti’s catastrophic 2010 earthquake.

While on assignment for Mother Jones last September, McClelland said she accompanied Sybille to the hospital when the woman saw her attackers and went into “a full paroxysm — wailing, flailing” in terror.

Something snapped in McClelland, too. She became progressively enveloped in the classic symptoms of post-traumatic stress — avoidance of feelings, flashbacks and recurrent thoughts that triggered crying spells. There were smells that made her gag.

McClelland, 31, sought professional help but said she ultimately cured herself by staging her own rape, which she writes about in a haunting piece for the online magazine Good. The title: “How Violent Sex Helped Ease My PTSD.”

Her sexual partner mercilessly pinned her, beat her about the head and brutally violated McClelland — at her request.

“I was not crazy,” she told ABCNews.com. “It was a way for me to deal in sort of a simulated, but controlled situation. I could say ‘stop’ at any time. But it was still awful, and the body doesn’t understand when it’s in a fight.”

McClelland writes, “It was easier to picture violence I controlled than the abominable nonconsensual things that had happened to Sybille.”

The article brought out disgust in some readers, who called her “a racist and a f**ked up whore.” But many more were supportive.

“I got an email every 10 minutes from a total stranger, thanking me for saying they felt a lot less isolated and they appreciated someone starting the conversation,” she said. “Some of them were incredibly intense and emotional.”

Experts don’t recommend self-treatment as a way to alleviate post-traumatic stress, but they say the concept of “mastery” of the situation — or literally reliving the experience that triggered the mental breakdown — can be effective.

“People want to feel better and have the tendency when they are feeling terrible to attempt some way at mastery,” said Elana Newman, research director for the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma and a professor of psychology at the University of Tulsa. “People try to make sense of the experience in any way they can with the resources they’ve got.”

The animated rapper took to her twitter and sent two messages letting the world know her cousin had been killed.  According to TMZ, her cousin Nicholas had been killed in the early morning of July 4th, 2011 after receiving multiple gun shot wounds to the torso. Here is what she tweeted:
